Well I'd really like to recreate the fat sounding synth from the Goose-track British Mode. I have my idea that it is some 8osc synth, where every osc is put on a different place in the stereo-panorama and then individually panned or chorused?!

you think the synth in the song sounds thát fat? :o don't think is hard to reproduce, only thing you need would be an old monophonic modular, like an SH-101 f.i., but i'm sure that it'll be just as easy with sumthin' like Triangle II softplug as well ...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=I0eMErWfA-k The synth part he is talking about starts at 1:50 I think.

Take your favorite analog synth, start with one or more sawtooth(s) or a sawtooth based preset, EQ a volume boost in the mids, enable a slow portamento (200ms). Then try to get which notes they play (think it starts with B-D-B). Put them in a loop and then turn your knobs until it sounds the same :p Good luck.

It's a bunch of saws slightly detuned with portamento on some notes. Also try to put some small unison on.

It's not such a difficult patch (saws are at the basis of most "phat" sounds)

All your suggestions sound good to me, but none does include the way how to make it sound like it is coming from everywhere... seriuously i haven't heard (and that is if you listen to the original track, not a youtube-clip....) such a present and overwhelimg boost of sound. How the sound itself is done, is for me not the problem, what i refer to is more the soundengineering-trick that is used...

EDIT: Yeah, listened once again to the youtubevideo and that really doesn't sound as it is on the original track. The sound is like more present, coming from everywhere at once and literally blowing your heads of...

chorus effect? like the vanguard's "fat" knob. or the simsynth's chorus. you can try weird detuning effects: pan 1 synth hard left the other hard right and detune them, should give a weird phasing effect.  actually i don't really knwo what sound you want to achieve.
