how do you put videos from mini DV to adobe premiere thru the firewire cable?

hola well i just connected the camera to my laptop and then in adobe premiere i didn't find how to catch or record the film that's on the mini dv...

any help?

edit : i have adobe in french

check the help file/manual. i hate adobe's user interface but their help files are usually quite... helpful ;)

can't help though, imovie/final cut studio/quicktime user here...

you must go into the menu "file" (where is the "save as" button ...) and choose "acquire" if your camera was plug you can see your film into the opening windows when you put play on your camera

or can i use another prog just to capture the film on my computah so i can save it and do some montage later in adobe...which prog should i use?

i'm drunk too...i slept though but woke up drunk...then i had a beer and now i'm gonna have anther one :)

sundays are so depressing...when ure drunk it's less :)

Sunny sunday morning bloke! Already washed meh clothes and sunbathed ^^ I have the same problem as you with adobe premiere, actually. Also a cam with mini-dv and firewire.

i need to put all my material on the pc so i'll be able to make a montage...

so simple, and IF your using a DVcam, be sure of that, you just connect the cam to your computa, wondows regognize it with the typical usb connection noise "tiduuuuw" then open Premiere, chek where the option 'capture' is, and its done... If its not working chek the preferencies but premiere si easy and fast, connect press record and u got it .

is the cam set to VTR (or playback, or whatever) ?

Sorry dude, ain't correct. Actually if I connect my camera with a usb connection it detects it is a photo camera :) (Which it also is).

Gozno: I either uwe powerdirector or just the simple windows movie maker. The last one should take you 5 minutes. Of course, this is if the camera IS detected by the computer (you'll notice that it doesn't show up on the 'my computer' screen etc.)
