why no comments on songs of new users !

I think if those people give feedback with other more familiar users they also gonna get faster feedback back. I also listen more often to people I already know from this community, but certainly give a chance to the newer people if they produce st in the genres that I'll like. But idd a remark to give a head to, feedback is important for the starting producers and the more common users as well. Grtz

an easy manageable option like 'recommand this track to another user (with a 'favorite user list' ) would also help to find those nice trees through this forrest of music :) (and perhaps stimulate people more to comment & listen...)

I don't comment a lot... First of al because I think music is personal, and I would have the urge to say I would do this like that and that like this etc.  Second because I still consider myself a novice and not in the position to say "how to do it". The only times I do comment is when I hear a piece of music that really touches me... And unfortunatly I never write  more then "this is really good" or something in the like.

the problem is that many users think the same way, which leads to nothing... it's allraight to say your opinion. cause music isn't made for people who know all about it, it's for everyone, novices included it used to be quite different in the old days...

Maybe people are just afraid by the newcomers, for they might be producing total crap. So, they (and we) just listen to producers we like, we're used to. But that way, we miss lots of good things. The comments problem is the same, be it for old users or new ones, the tendency is just stronger with new users. Don't know what to say, nothing constructive to say, don't like the track... In many occasions you find yourself thinking "is it worth posting a comment to say just that ??" ("i like it", "very cool", "not my style"...) I'd say yes, it's always good to hear what people think about your music, even if a simple " good track" doesn't help you moving on...

I do comment quite often (i think), just that way : saying what i would do in this case. It can always be helpful to have a different wiew of the same track, i don't really care if people find it relevant or not but i always try to justify my words... That way, the man can hear his track from another angle, and get new ideas... Hope so...  So, people : no need to comment on a track just to say "okay, i said something, i'm a nice person"... If you felt something when listening to the track, just express it in any way you can  

i think that any comment is good , because it gives confidence to a new producer i've been on electrobel for a year now and there is nothing greater then having a simple 'good' or 'maybe try this' as a comment on your track even now im still insecure about my tracks that i have posted only 2 tracks on the site instead of all the other ones i made in the same time (wich i eventually did today) So i dont think it has to do with being a novice or a expert but with just being a music lover of course everybody had his own styl but with all the producers on electrobel there are enough people who can give 'schouderklopjes' to the newbies in each genre just to motivate them

A good way to get listeners and comments, is to give a lot of comments yourself. People will check out your songs if you check out theirs.

In the past I'd just listen to random electrobel playlists and comment on every track in them. Now I don't really have the time for that anymore, and I need to be more selective, and so I end up listening to the producers I know I like and to people that comment on my tracks, to check out where they come from. It's the natural way of thing. I mean there's over 10000 tracks on here. It's a sort of networking.

Ofcourse, if you're new to electrobel it's kind of sad that you don't get a lot of comments, and it might scare people. So maybe we should put up an faq or something for them (saying: the more you giveth, the more thou shallth recieve, or something)

Had the same problem when I strarted out on Ebel: no comments. The problem is that when you're new to Ebel, you're too insecure to comment. I mean, I didn't exactly feel myself in the position to comment on a track from someone who has posted tons of tracks, not knowing anything 'bout music.

What could help is a box on the frontpage with 'new users' (like the last ten to join or something). If some people would go through the trouble of commenting on their songs now and then, the newbies would probably feel a lot more confident.
