Kaoss Pad

Think it's more useful for a dj. There are software X-Y controls too where you can choose what parameter should be on what ax (X or Y). If you assign two midiknobs to that I think you can achieve the same, offcourse not with a sexy touch pad :))

I've only seen dj's use it but I guess producers can use it too, I wouldn't buy one for above stated reasons.

I've seen some people use it in live acts on pukkelpop. It was funny to see, cause all the other people were competing with each other in synth sizes (mine's bigger than yours) and than the lead "singer" was messing about on this (relatively) tiny kaoss pad.

A friend of mine bought one for production purposes and wasn't all too satisfied.

I haven't really used one myself, but if you just want it for the touchpad I'd get a korg padkontrol. It has a touchpad and a whole bunch of other stuff, it's cheaper than a kaoss pad, but offcourse, it's just a midi controler, if you want to use it live you'll have to bring your laptop, because it has no built in effects

Its a great toy once you get the hang of it. Works great for producing & playing out. Some fx are good for the 1st, other for the second & some are great with both.

Been using it alot lately for beats + the delays and reverbs it does kicks any dedicated vst's ass.

I love my KP2 :P :P One of my best machines. Okay the sound quality is not realy "professional",but as used in live performances it realy kicks asses, You can have alot of sorts of different effects, all very "dance" and live performance orientated (lot of fun with the agressive Phaser). The sampling fuctions are very interesting,you can get this granular tipe of sound or sampling and beat cutting on the fly with just a quick finger tip. Stills that the KP2 version has very annoying problems: like they really need to improve the samplig functions (only mono sampling and at less than 44.100 I think), problems with sync... The newer version (out in october) got probably all these problemes fixed.Cant wait to get it! :P :P

the efx suck big time.

of course, if your sound system sucks or your DAW, ts, yeah, than you won't hear the humming the noise, the hissing...

peace of crap.

BUT, i use this a a dedicated 2d midi controller... needs some work though... i also use it as a grid to toggle certain efx groups on and off...

so yeah that way it wasn't a waste of money at all.

if only Korg carde about the actual soundquality... tsssss.

fuck korg and roland, buy midicontrollers and invest in your computer.

cause all the hardware put out the last 5 years uterly sucks!

all those cheap DSP chips they use... pff... jus buy a poly evolver from dave smith and an Spectralis from radikaltechnologies and you're set fot a life time hardware wise. (and f course some behringer BCR2000 and BCF2000)
