greetings! i've been experiencing quite some trouble lately with my edirol ua 25 souncard.in ableton i get plopping sounds, high cpu rates, massive dissapointment whenever i use a non ableton vst or playback more than 3 wavs at the same time. the problems began when my cpu fan failed, i had it repaired. a few days after that the problems began. also added a new graphic card but i can't see that the problem is related to that. what i've tried so far: -made sure my pc didn't have too much processes running when using ableton-changed the buffer input size of my soundcard (increased / decreased it ) none of it worked  -checked if my new graphics card had anything to do with it so i set my hardware acceleration to a lower point ( the acceleration of my graphics card that is ), that didn't work.-checked in configurations - system - advanced - prestaties ( don't know it in english ) if my processor usage is used for background services .-first reinstalled ableton 7.0.3 then downloaded ableton 8 and had the same problems.i must admit that the software I use is completely illegal and my problems can easily be blamed by this, but i still experience the same problems when just playing wavs in ableton or using freeware vst's. I've been spending so many time ever since i began producing on crap like this that i'm seriously thinking about throwing all my stuff out, or buy the legal version of ableton (wich i hope could fix the probs, but i don't know ) any help is welcome!  edit: apologies for the crappy lay out, tried to put some alinea's in it but apparantly it doesn't work.god how i HATE technology (from time to time)

i know what you mean man, i have these pops and crackles too (with an emu 0404 and lap top), hugely frustrating to spend a bundle on something that doesn't work properly

apparantly the pops and crackles can be caused by latency. your other problems could be related to this as well (not sure though, i am far from an expert myself, just been looking my ass off to find a solution for this extremely annoying problem) you can download a free latency checker here: http://www.thesycon.de/deu/free_download.shtml

latency can be caused by a variety of things. Most devices like an external harddrive don't experience any problems by it, but audio cards do... in the best case you can solve it by turning off your lan devices or installing the latest drivers. in the worst case you have a problem with badly assigned IRQ's which means you'll have to mess around in your BIOS (bad news) anyway, here's a more detailled account (asio specific though): http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.faq&ID=80d7b56e35ea51e73104295aec1f755b and: http://rainrecording.com/pro/software/adjusting-pci-latency/

I don't now if this helps or if it's even remotely close to your problem (like I said, I'm not a computer whizkid myself); but if you solve the problem please let us know how.

mhm, it could be the bios, i recently had a bios update.I went to the guy who fixed my cpu fan, he updated my bios aswel. I asked him 'bout the problem and he admitted it could have something to do with the bios, if it is the bios, i cannot go back a previous version.i turned off my lan devices and downloaded the latency checker, it seems to be normal.checked the irq page, seems quite advanced to me ^^. i'll try to find out.thanks for the tips!

i would say it's something with the driver, i had similar probs with ma tascam. i'm however not a pro in those things, so i can't really help you further.
