'subscribe to artist' function

yup podcast is an rss stream :)

the suggestion i'm making here is the following (as stated in the topic description)

a certain artist u 'subscribed' to posts a song, and then from as soon it's authorised and accepted all the subscribers get a mail telling there is a new song available from that certain artist...

the podcast and my favorites thingies only give buggy html script screens to me...

You can put it on your google frontpage, you can put it as podcast in itunes and stuff. Just run a google search on rss reader

You can even add rss streams to your firefox favourites bar I think

ah, finally you decide it's worthwhile to type a bit of text ...

'cos no offense, i'm open to suggestions, but when a user can't be bothered to type a bit to explain his idea and defend it ... i can't be bothered either ;)

i've had that idea over a year ago, but never got around to implement it ...

so lets see your point of view :)

how would uses subscribe ? where would that "link" be ? does it cover all the songs of the user ? only non-icz ? certain styles from that user ? how does the user un-subscribe ? limitations to amount of artists a user can subscribe to ?

aaargh i just wanna get mail when my fav artists post new songs so i don't have to check ebel all the time

i don't have a google page and or iPod and i don't want it :p

it does not limit icz and such, all songs are noted, and the link would be in the profile close to the podcast thingies

subscribing would happen by either using the email you provided in your personal profile or a new one you enter (last bit sounds tricky :p)

i guess the email in u'r profile would do.

also; programming the system to send mails to all subscribers from the minute a song gets accepted sounds like hard work, so zark, only start programming this stuff when u feel lone and cold with ebel gone all old and out date, and u want to spice it up again with a new spiffy function :p :p :p

but then it would mean non-members would not be able to subscribe :)

meaning people who have to register to be able to subsribe ..

and would an artist want people to be notified of an icz track ?

Just add the podcast to your winamp then, I do that here. Or put the rss in your firefox bar (there's a "latest news" entry there by default, which gives you an idea on how the rss would look there)

subscribing to a genre by mail would get your inbox flooded I think
