compressors n eq n stuff

First of all, it's not a big drama.  Commercial (or pro-) music is made for radiobroadcasting and they tend to overcompress it so their track would stand out to be the loudest.  A lot of commercial music has a ridiculously boosted wave (image).  Anyway...

You don't even need a sidechaincompressor but a finalizer/mastercompressor. Waves L2 and L3, sonic finalizer (or is it maximiser?), BBE compressor, ...

If you want to that loud make a very good equal mix where your sound is always between -9 and -3dB without too much peaking.  Then limit it to cut the peaks (like on -4dB).  Then maximize it with treshold -4dB to become -0.1dB.  

Note that this is not a complete tutorial for mastering.  There's a lot more involved like multibandcompression, stereo width, eq & all but that would be too much typing.  Instead go to:

I agree with you mister Bandarlog, but if i can add something... YOU MUST TRY THE : MACKIE QUAD COMP/GATE !!! it's the ultimate digital compressor/gate you can find, for an afordable price (imho)...with this one, your track will be awesomely compressed, and the "plus" you have so fuckin great " diodes electro luminescante" (led)...

so don't where i want to go, but this comp/gate is awesome and i'm too happy with it !!!

a realy easy and simple trick to boost yr overal level is making /recording your track at a level which is lower than the maximum(e.g. -6dB) and then normalising. very easy and you won't have to mess around with compression which can do more damage than good if you don't know how to use it. don't overdo this though or you'll have no more dynamics.
