Shackleton

Shackleton's take on Dubstep has already redefined the young genre and taken it into unsuspected realms of musical wizardry.

Together with Appleblim, he runs the critically acclaimed Skull Disco label. Outsiders to the Dubstep scene, Skull Disco has managed to break through to other genres as well. This break was epihanised in the remix Ricardo Villalobos did for Shackleton's 'Blood On My Hands' track. Recognizing Shackleton's new take on music and excited about the new sound coming from England, Villalobos moulded 'Blood In My Hands' into one of his signature minimal workouts, with a deep and brooding bassline adding extra musical content to Sam Shackleton's mournful voiceover recalling the WTC attack. These days, Shackleton is a self-proclaimed admirer of Turkish saz music, qawwali or Mulate Astatke and other artists that are being reissued on the Ethiopiques series on the Buda Musique label.
