BAZUCO & 10DAYSOFF PRESENT “2 DAYS ON”

July 21 and 22 (14-20h) In collaboration with Kunstencentrum Vooruit and with the support of the city of Ghent.

On What? 10 Days Off doesn't shy away from the daylight and brings you a day program entitled 2 Days On, a unique supply of workshops, info-sessions and master classes. Contents and execution are done by vzw 5 voor 12 and vzw Bazuco, a Ghent-based organisation that gives artists, musicians and music lovers the chance to learn, experiment and meet kindred spirits. Workshop, STIJN, Hoedoeddeda? (www.mijnlabel.be) What language does a Korg MS 20 speak, and how should I trigger it? How do I sync a Tr 808 with an Electribe and how do I turn a midi-signal into a clock for my old drum computer? How do I link old and new hardware, what should I keep in mind when purchasing a second hand synthesizer? STIJN will be trying to answer these questions and more during this workshop. The intention is to exchange experiences with the use of 'echte bakken'. It's going to be all about hardware, there will be no computer language. Demo, Droon, 'Breakcore gives me wood' Breakcore-terrorist Droon will show participants the way he works: making loops with a certain amount of BPMs, add it to soundplant (i.e. assigning a sample to each keyboard key). The participants will experiment to get to a short live performance. Demo, Richard Devine & Brian Smith , Native Instruments (www.schematic.net) Electronics wizard and performer Richard Devine (Warp and Schematic) and Brian Smith of software manufacturer Native Instruments will guide you through the Native Instruments software: Absynth 2.0, Reaktor and Traktor 2.5. Starting from the very basics to the most complex applications. Lecture, Solu, VJ-culture:'From Loop Industry to Real Time Scenarios' (www.solu.org) Mia is a visual performer and agitator from Barcelona, famed for her performances at Sónar, the Cinematics festival in Brussels, the Museum for Contemporary Art in Helsinki and the Greenpeace Warrior boat. She is one half of the visuals team Solu. She will give a lecture on the state of things in vj-land. Participants: 100 free of charge No registration required

Workshop, Solu, Live visuals and vj-ing (www.solu.org) Solu gives an introduction to the world of live visuals and the art of veejaying. This workshop will give a step-by-step overview: starting from the core material to the final performance at clubs, festivals or galleries. The basic concepts of image manipulation, technical set-up and the software for Mac, Windows and Linux will be explained. The participants will be working to get to a final short performance. Workshop, Kapotski, 'Kabeatski' (www.kapotski.be) Jonas Nachtergaele, Ruben Nachtergaele and Kurt Stockman will teach participants how to work with self-made software and wil try to get to a performance. With the 'Kabeatski VJ Pack' a 3-hour vj-introduction will be given, followed by a live set. The Kapotski's have a past in Starbot and have worked with various installations at Vooruit.. Panel discussion, Evolutions in electronic music and the music industry Jan Vanbiesen (StuBru), Gert Keunen (author, Briskey, teacher), Luc Gulinck (Jurist EMI-Music) will discuss. What are the challenges for the music industry? How will the crisis be overcome? How fresh is electronic music in 2004? …. Exhibition, Up Your Sleeve, Frosty, Live Daedelus, dj's Aim Records (www.aim-records.com, www.dublab.com) An exhibition of 300 vinyl record sleeves by the Californian radio collective Dublab.com. Made by artists from all over the world. With the sole purpose of exhibiting them. The music is imaginary. DJ Frosty will provide blank sleeves the 10 Days Off visitor can use to express himself: 'Make your own sleeve'. Live music by Daedelus (PlugResearch) and the dj's of the Ghent-based Aim label. Participants: unlimited No registration required
