Heuristic Audio

David Froud started DJing in the late 80’s, mainly playing electro, acid house and early techno. Other musical influences include punk, hip hop and various early electronic artists. By the end of the 80’s he was collaborating with a friend using drum boxes, various analogue keyboards and a sampler. As the studio grew they released under various names including the Arc and Red Union on Inter1, A13 and Language records. They also remixed for various labels including SSR, Guerrilla, Language and Polydor.

After they split, David went back to experimenting with a more electronic sound. He started collaborating with Mind over rhythm to produce a contemporary electro sound. A few artists were already experimenting in the same direction and again as before, changes in technology were enabling musicians to create new sounds and production techniques. A little over five years ago David decided to move over to a completely digital, computer based system. This project was solo and called “Heuristic audio” and is about finding his own particular sound.

A mutual friend put Heuristic audio together with Satamile records in New York. Satamile gently encouraged Heuristic audio to develop the sound and move it towards the dance floor a little more. Soon after that “Death of a star” was written and an ep was compiled. So far Heuristic has remixed Tomorrow people’s “Slippin into darkness” and “Feeling like the only one on this earth”. There are more remixes on the way and a second ep also out on Satamile in the very near future!

Heuristic audio is now working on a live set and is developing that. Once again the technology will lead the way.
