hello there boys and girls (btw what's the boy/girl ratio on electrobel? we want female producers!)

maybe the e-bel kru could organise a remix compo for the summer? somebody could make some samples, a demo song and a set of rules.. some people would be the jury to decide a winner and the runners-up.

any comments?

already been thought off .... Though it'd be something ermm .. 'weird' and cool at the same time, because of so many different music styles here ...

so their wouldn't be a reall 'winner' but more like "i'll show you what i can make with them samples" attitude :)

anyway, i could make a sample pack which could be used many different ways .... i got loads of sample cd's which you get free with FUTURE MUSIC magasine :) they mostly can be used which ever way you want ..

hehe, it was future music that gave me the idea, they tend to run compos like that from time to time ;) of course, the jury would have a difficult task judging the best track, maybe with taking the equipment used by the artists into account, in order not to discriminate the contestants with limited tools..

i'm not sure whether the different styles would pose a problem. hypothetically, if there are enough submissions, one could split them into different leagues, like best breakbeat remix, best house remix, special attention for the most wacky remix and so on ;)

if there are enough artists who would be willing to join such a competition, i think it can be pulled off.

so the question remains: pro/contra? let's hear it people! :D

i like the idea of a contest, but plzzz give us a MIDI file with the melody, it will be easier for the people using a computer

lets just say that if there's a cute female producer out there, she's MINE :) :) lol, i don't know if there's any women on e-bel .. i don't think it really matters ... (that's why there's no Male/Female question in the profile :) )

Aren't there enough remixes in the world already?

Seems like all anyone is doing these days is make remixes of everything. I do believe that there's a need for true creativity and originality, rather than "remix-artists".

(They already drained all previous decades in search for things to remix. A dance mix of "Yellow submarine" by the Beatles? Isn't that just a bit too much????)

I honestly believe that, now more than ever, there's a definite need for encouragement to get genuinly creative, show the world what they are really capable off, instead of jumping someone else's train constantly. I think are no locomotives left.... almost that is. and all carriages is not going to take us very far if you ask me.

A Song Contest would seem more appropriate to me.

Hope you don't mind me blurting out my thoughts just like that. But I, for one, would love to hear what you can really do.

But this is all of course my very personal, insignificant opinion.

Cheers!
