Aw, comeon, not that again! Everybody knows that Behringer-Products are getting better an are receiving better reviews, and lots of them. For example for the Virtualizer DSP2024 Pro... It is not that I wan't to have the Behringer, it is just that I'd like to know if these enhancers are woth something. Do they really do that psycho-acoustic Mumbojambo!?

relax man, I only have one Behringer product but I'm happy with it ! (http://www.behringer.com/ADA8000/index.cfm?lang=eng) :) There's better on the market but well, this stuff is a good price/quality balance imo

Here is another one of these from another company: http://www.aphex.com/204.htm And this plugin seems also doing the same: http://www.crysonic.com/spectralivenxt.html Trying the last one out right now.

Just kidding ;)

But still, I wouldn't trust them... i have a Behringer maximiser and it doenst' do shit (good). Experts tested the thing (not only that one) and the result was that it didn't do any good cause the compressor sucked and the exciter function was merely as good as an average (which means: don't put money in it when those kind of effects can easily be obtained by software).

If you want psycho accoustic mumbojumbo: get protools I think

Well the bottom line is I know nothing about this shit. I'd like to have 2 or 3 knobs to tweak for a little excitement of my sound ^^ But I'm just testing this Spectralive plug. And it seems to do something, soething good, I just can't really tell what, that's probably what psychoacoustic is all about!?

Well, it's mumbo jumbo for reason :))

But really: think before you act... You're about to invest in stuff you don't need, trust me ;)

There are way better though less 'psycho' and exciting bargains you could go for.

Where are you on the list:

  1. (good) monitors
  2. good soundcard
  3. enough ram
  4. enough cpu
  5. mixer/synth
  6. other stuff?

It's a bit like maslow's pyramid: you don't want 6 when you don't have 1 (to 5)

well, the aphex exciters do work, no doubt about that...

and you can say whatever you want about behringer, but comparing them to aphex is blasphemy....

behringer gets good reviews, because for the price you pay you get good results, but there is no comparisson with aphex, or tc electronic or lexicon or whatever, and i also have a behringer machine in my rack, so i'm no purist, but i don't use it often...

exciters : choose aphex
