Just an idea:

maybe you could let users create a list of belgian producers to put on your site. This way organisers can fill them in on the form u get from SABAM and these ppl have a chance at getting paid if their music is played @ a party. It isn't even necessary that the song is played, it just has to be mentioned on the form... I'm having a hard time filling it in cuz I don't know that many (registered) producers in Belgium (especially not for DnB). Any suggestions are welcome... The government is currently reforming SABAM with more control on where the money actually goes. Time to act I'd say...

But if I understand you correctly, you need to know all registered producers... I mean all the producers who are registered @ SABAM... don't think it's so easy to manage...

That would mean organisers would be the SABAM ? now, i'm not a big organiser, but i doubt many parties actually pay the sabam ....

At some venues u have to pay the SABAM or u can't organize a party (@ silo & rumba its the case)

U get a form from SABAM asking what music (songtitle-artist/producer) was played... these artists should get paid because I used their music to play at my party (that is why u pay sabam, they should transfer it to the artist/producer)... sabam isn't going to look for all these artists of course, they pay the ones that were registered (and payed registration fee) with them in the first place...

Now, it's impossible to find out what records all the DJs played, and even if u knew, don't expect that the money will go all the way to USA or something...

So, as an organizer u better put ppl u know or upcoming national talent on your list so they can MAYBE earn back the registration fee...(none of the ppl i know ever saw this money yet, but maybe the change of policy is going to change that...)

I'm always wondering what the hell they do with those tracklists. I really can't believe they actually run through those list and go like "ok, one for Ed Rush, and one for Dillinja..." that would be an insane job considering the number of parties being thrown in Belgium alone.

They probably just divide all the SABAM money that's coming in from parties over all registered artists, using some sort of quota coming from record sales and radio airplay.

Yep thinking the same about this, it's so stupid you have to fill in a list every time, believe me they won't count it :)) lazy ass mothafucka'z and a lot of small parties never pay sabam ... just because is too much if ya wanna keep it small and if you're low budget. The whole sabam thingie is bit suckie suckie imo

I think i get what aTCeWoNDe's idea was ...

to make listings of electrobel artists, and get party organisers to put a 'fake' playlist which would consist of electrobel artists... which isn't a bad idea, except for the fact that it's fraud .. but well :p we can always delete this thread and talk over a secured phone line :D

I just want that that money goes to ppl that imho diserve or need it. I payed it so I should have some saying to what happens with that money... I dont want Sergio to get payed with my money because he gets his face on the TV... That's what I would call fraud...

The form you fill in will be registered, and the money goes to the recordcompany of the producer.

not a bad idea! I had a similar idea about that form. I'm a registered producer and I have a registered producer friend. So feel free to contact me :-)
