Hey, I want to inform U guys about something very important, something that's gonna ruin this nice little scene we have in this fabulous country.
It's about Clearchannel, I'm sure U'v already seen or heard about it (billboard publicitaires JCDecaux are being changed in ClearChannel bilboards). They'r trying to make a monopole situation ... which isn't good at all !!! Lot's of company's are following their stupid commercialist ideas ( Wechter, I Love Techno, etc.) They'v already reached their goal in the radio market in the US, and are trying to make it in the music bizness (which ofcours is a juicy bizness).
The thing is, established musicians will make more money (and so will CC), new ones will have more difficulties to be recognized. I do not know more about it ....
check out those linkz for more info

It's people like them who ruin the whole thing, for them it's all about the money .. They don't give a fuck about the rest !!!
SO PEOPLE: BOYCOT CLEARCHANNEL !!!
=====> !!!!!!! BOYCOT I LOVE TECHNO !!!!!!! <=====
Let's hope things'll be fine ....

Clear Channel sucks bigtime
I know a few reallife situations where they enacted their financial power.
a friend of mine played Pukkelpop last year with a band. This year the organiser wanted to book him as a solo show. But since Clear Channel is the new owner, they have to agree with the program. They said ok, but only if we get 25% (I'm not sure its 25 but it was alot!) of EVERY show you'll ever do again with that musical project. Also Every show you'll do has to be agreed with by us. So no backroom small stages in local bars anymore ...
another situation: A famous pop band from Gent did a show in the Vooruit two years ago, as a final exclusive concert to close their tour for their new cd. Now they have a second cd and they want to perform again in their hometown, but the industry has changed. Their belgian managment has to contact their European Managment (in London) who in turn has to contact Clear Channel, who has to agree to the show. All this because they want to do a live show in their own hometown !!! The ticket fee will be much more expensive and the performing artist gets LESS then they used to ...
Remember Action Beach Rock? Not the best festival around, but it was good. Ever wondered why there wasn't one this year? Because Versity, the organiser and owner of Action Beach Rock couldn't book a single big name, because they all have performance deals with Clear Channel ... Versity almost (or did) went bankrupt because of it ...
Then why do artist do these deals with CC? Because its either CC or you don't exist in the music industry ... You just can't do a live show anymore without "giving" a certain amount of money to CC ...
:o
this kind of things makes me more eager to fight the industry !
And if anyone wants to help organise the e-bel first party ... please contact me .. 'cos there's too much for me to handle
thank you praecox for the details ..
mmh, guess my idea of getting our tent in pukkelpop is out of the question now :(
mmh, the worst is that there's no way in killin' 'em .. i mean ... you can't stop them ... even boycotting .. it won't work ..
