I am rejecting the shit-quality apple-products since they really give a fuck about the quality of their hardware (Your ipod dies once a year) and they have an ill approach on music in all imaginable ways. iTunes is the programm on my computer that has caused most frustration in 3 years. Plus they are super expensive brand,"looks-like-noble" & " ain't worth a dime" neocapitalistic freaks making too much money. Thats my little cheese on it 

i think the Polar and Keyboard only differ in keyboardsize. for the rest, i'm very satisfied with my Virus B. very well tought thru, many possibillities (and almost all accesible directly from surface). i'd suggest to go for a virus b, c, or TI; desktop version, not keyboard, because it's far more practical for live performance and even studio-use (compact to work with).  as for a laptop: go apple, they've among the best laptops available, with high quality components and the best OS for artistic purposes. the new line-up of macbook pro's have lowered in price and are very durable! also, Snow Leopard launches in september and that will be FAR much better then windows 7: 6Gb less system space on yer HDD, faster performance with current hardware (for example: you can use your grapics processor for extra cpu-power!), fully 64bit systemprograms (32 bit compatible), and better threading of multicore processor. i don't know about your ipod, but mine lasts for 3 years already :p

fuck mac :D mac has quite lame processors for too much money you cana ctually compose your laptop with dell, choose the type you want on ther website, then do "aanpassen" (adjust) en compose wich processor, wich ddr, wich hdd... you want.

if you want a laptop for highend music programs, look for a laptop with a processor with high fsb and l2 for example the intel p8600 has 2.4ghz cpu, 1066 fsb and 3mb cache this should get most programs running reaaly fluently if you search good, you find a laptop with this processor under 1000 euros, if your budget isnt limited i'd search a laptop with a t9400 processor their awesomely good for laptop processors :D and try finding one with a firewire port, firewire interfaces are better then usb interfaces

and if it comes to brands, dont buy packard bell, their cooling fans wear down really fast, my previous laptop died because the motherboard burnt through , and the fan allways was making a lot of noise, then i bought a new one, pb again, now the fan is making noise too.....

but i'm buying a new one next week :D probaby toshiba satellite its cheap with good processor

But I thought of getting some quad-core processor laptop, and dell models only got core duo's. All actual QC laptops are priced around 4-5k euro and totally burst my budget.( mine is set around 2-2.5 k euro) Rumors say new chips (processors) should arrive by end of the year and therefore a totally new laptop generation, ideal for desktop computer replacement and all featuring Quad-Core. I am quite worried that if I buy a laptop now, I'd regret it in half a year, since also Apple announced quad core laptops but they're waiting for the Intel chips to arrive as the other companies do. I am aware that I have to radically change my music production style if I dont use Fruityloops anymore, but honestly, it lacks a bit of professionality. I got some more spontaneous questions: 1)What do think of those UAD2 solo Dsp cards for laptops? They might not be needed with a quadcore processor I think, but are they really worth the 500 euros?? 2) Why is never ever talked about the Fl Studio software anywhere, its not even mentionned in magazines or elsewhere. Even the Magix producer Studio( german noobsoft company) seems to be more popular than my DAW?

Hi, for the laptop choice I would recomend you apple . I'm a long date apple user and really never ever had any prblem with any product. for your iPod I don't know how you handle it but I still use my 2G iPod it's now 5 to 6 years old, just the battery is getting too old but still working!  Like firefrog said in september snow leopard comes out. It's the same interface as Leopard but more powerfull. If you get your mac now, you just pay 10euro for shipping and you get the LeopardSnow for free when it comes out. Apple just renew the macbook pro serie and for 1140euro you get a 13inch macbook pro 2,26GHz intel core 2 duo. I don't reject pc but I've got a few freinds who bought a dell of the same power, ram, graphic than my macbook pro and in one year time they had to change computer cause of too much problems. they are now on mac and never experienced any problem so far. I also think it's expenssiv but I really think it worth the price.  that's what I can tell about it. Now again I'm not against PC but I don't have problem on mac so I would'nt swith from mac to PC. PEACE

im sorry, lets not enter the war mac vs pc  but my personal experience is: mac is too expensive and offer nothing more. My dell laptop NEVER crashed in 3 years (well the HD did crashed because the la^top felt on the ground: laptop is still 100% ok), work very fast very wel very silent very everything  :p 4core processor is unuseless for music production with softwares, they simply can not handle it... for the latest version the use the dual core process but quadri core,never eared about it... anyway, i dont know the others, but the dell lapops are extremely fiable, you really can trust em... and they are cheap imho

components? fast HD fast everything, the only thing i didnt buy is an expensive video card. for the rest i took the basic dell shit but i choosed expensive adds, like a BIG battery (i already forgot my electricity cable and the battery was full, iv been lucky i could play all y live set)  big screen (minimum 17")   etc enz...

why do you need a quad core for 4k euros :D its just the newest technology but its not that necessary unless you want to run 5 reasons and 7 abletons at the time :D

if you buy a pc with the best dual core 2 you'll be settled for 1400-1800tops

and dual cores can get reallyyyy strong :D check the intell site they have a list wxith all their processors and their specs then you can go to tweakers and search a laptop with that processor

or look for vaio's they usually have a t9500 processor thats a really good one

if you really want a laptop to do some multitasking you'll maybe want to upgrade your ram but if you've got 2gig ram or 8gig ram, you wont notice much difference if you're using windows vista 32bit

and to answer your fuityloops question i think fruityloops is one of the most frequently used music programs in the world, but i also think it is one of the most hacked ones, andddddddddddd its not developed by a massive corporation like native instruments or dinges van cubase so thats why i think nobody talks about it in the magazines
