probably got suggested before but i'll do it again 'cause i think that's really missing: a 'last page' button for forum thread links (both in forum as on homepage). that takes you to the last page of a thread instead of the first one. saves a lot of clicking when you're following a multi-page discussion. all serious forums i know have it!

1 extra click ...

is that extra click worth the "overload" it will make on the frontpage ?

multiplied by every time you check a multi-page thread = a whole lot of clicks!

(think about our RSI pains man! ;))

problem is that ::

from frontpage: A/ if you link directly to last page, then people don't bother checking out the original msg B/ if you add a last page link, it'll make things even crowdier.

in forum: going to last page, is equivalent to clicking on the rightmost number, so basically it'd be a redundant feature

When clicking on a post in the forum it should automatically open on the last page.

New visitors WILL bother to look up the first page if they are interested in the topic and the ones of us that check back the topic always have to go through the first page.

One might also argue the fact that if there's about 95 percent of online fora that actually use that logic, there might be a reason for our complaints?

well actually, my experience with other forums, is the classic "read the f*** thread" msg :) of which i haven't seen many over here...

I'll think about it

phpbb fora have a button which takes you to the newest message since you last logged on to the forum. I personally love that button, because it takes you right to the place where you left of (which might be page 8, even though there are 10 pages)

And it doesn't need to mean a whole lot of overload: just a star in front of the toppic subject: clicken the subject takes you to the first page, clicking the star takes you to the last page.

there s a date saying when the last post was posted, you could make that date a link
