listening right now... reliving every second of your vibrant and artisitc set. I wish you all the best - you are very talented guys.
If you signed with Sabam, none of your work is still permitted to be on this server. It's one or the other unfortunately, 1001 CC sites, or one Sabam organisation...they sign an artist and the person behind that artist (one or several) owning that artist name's rights. So all Quioui work is thereby protected, even if you didn't bother registering every single song with the minutes and seconds etc. paperwork.
I'm not even allowed to let my own artists be linked with mp3's through my website lol.
I guess it's not only for quioui songs but also for his music witht Waxdolls (www.myspace.com/waxdolls) that (might) get more airplay and thus more artistic rights... Maybe I'm wrong, dunno.
Jemenfish: there is still a foochow track here at electrobel... but maybe Foochow isn't with Sabam.
It doesn't matter, there's no argument. You signed with Sabam as a person or you didn't sign. If you're a sabam member and Waxdolls' songs are protected or not that's not the issue, but Quioui is your own project, so obviously those tracks are now under their wings. If you didn't want them to be, you wouldn't have become a member. Now that you are, with your REAL name (sorry, I forgot again), then it's a problem. You sign sabam papers with your REAL name, so any project you play laptop, flute, or nasal saxophone in, it doesn't matter anymore. It's in the basic rules of sabam before you sign ANY paper, why are so many artists so badly informed about this one? None of your personal tracks by any project can be ANYWHERE technically on the net. If you play in a band with 5 people and only you are a member, and that band would host their mp3's on a website, technically they have to pay sabam 20 percent for each song for each month of uptime because you signed. Sucks, yeah. Also obviously isn't enforced each and every time, but on this one, I'd also say that technically, it would be electrobel's fan where the shit would hit.
As to foochow, no, he isn't a sabam member. There's plenty of songs on here of people I know that are members though, mostly people that don't log into their accounts anymore. Hasn't been a problem so far I assume.
Anyway, reaman or whatever, can't you people once make a sticky topic about the sabams do's and donts? This kind of issue crops up here every couple of weeks, it would really be helpful. Especially since there's not even a lot of info on what is and isn't allowed on here or about CC (or sabam, stemra, etc....)
It's a very good idea and I'd gladly do so Jemenfish... but it seems you know 300% more about Sabam than me. It would indeed be good if users planning on signing up with Sabam could read some decent advice (not necessarily negative on Sabam...) before doing so...in order to be fully informed - 'cuz this seems indeed a tricky issue. I'll start an official forum topic about it after crossreading some of the earlier topics about Sabam here on ebel. (and we'll keep the thread clean - only on-topic replies!)
about the tracks: superb! way up there with the likes of bonobo and cinematic orchestra
