General discussionI'm looking for a loopbox wich runs on the pc. Anybody know where i could download one (if it exists)
i would like to buy an external (normal) one, but would like to check out first if would use it regularly (read;if it would be a good investement for my needs ;) )

well yes, but not for real sound on sound looping... per loop you have to set a seperate channel. if you got ableton setting it up as a looper is pretty easy
don't know if it's what your looking for.
but mixere is a pretty cool little app to play around with loops :)

the beatrepeat-effect can be used for on the fly looping

Thanks, i'll try it all!! i do have ableton but (to my shame) i still havn't installed it. I'll check it out right now!
the purpose is to loop anything comming through my microphone (voice, didgeridoo, guitar, percussion,..) but all live (so i can play a didj-tune, let it loop , ad didg, loop, ad voice.... and this all live whitout recording it all in advance)

The Buddha Machine is a hardware loop player, built kind of like a little AM radio, a small device for producing ambient sounds. quote from buddhamachine.com: The Buddha Machine is a modified version of a device used in Buddhist temples throughout Asia, which feature repeating loops of chanting monks or nuns. This particular incarnation is the brainchild of the musical duo FM3. It contains nine preset loops which which play individually and run continuously. The sounds can be played from the built in speaker, or by connecting headphones to the built in jack. If you are aware of ambient music such as the works of Brian Eno (Music for Airports, Discreet Music) then this is of a similar vein. Whereas music on a CD, Record or tape inherrently has to end before being restarted, the loops of the Buddha Machine will continue for as long as the AA batteries work (or forever if you connect a 4.5v supply).
It has been known for people to purchase more than one machine at a time, so that they can play multiple tracks simultaneously to create differing, unique sounds. Some people organise BYOBM (Bring Your Own Buddha Machine) events, and experiment with creating their own soundscapes.
A very interesting loop_machine that runs on PC ( only on PC ) is JAMBIENT , and it's for free It can run a bit like the Buddha Machine Cloudhopper is referring to , but is all together a bit more creative.The interface looks like shit but it's for free & does some amazing things. And yes you can run it with a regular ( games) joystick for live gigs.
