I received two programs to use either the touchpad of your laptop or a joystick as midi controller.

Both are freeware:

Any recommendation, experience or advice for the use of these?

wtf=max/msp???

I would particularly be interrested in turning my touchpad into a midi controller for Reason or Live

If by any means you knew an easier way to to this than with the tool I mentionned in the first post... coz...as I'm a complete dumb... this all seems very complicated to me...

to turn my old joystick into a midi controler, i use the shoryuken vst, with savihost to turn it in a standalone apps, and midiyoke to link it to live. It works fine ...

but someone has stole my laptop saterday night so i don't need to turn my touchpad in anymore and have some rage !

This is fun:

WEBCAM TO MIDI

Peripheral MIDI Controller

image Peripheral MIDI Controller. This is a software program that intends to act as a MIDI controller by using various peripheral devices. The initial release(s) will be focused on using a webcam as a MIDI controller with 3 dimensions (XYZ).

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pmidic i would also script that in max/msp :D

max/msp is a graphic progamming environment for all kinds of audio, video, midi, etc. applications. i use it a lot at work to hook up experimental user interfaces to computer systems.

You can also use a PS2 to USB thingy and control your X-Y with the PS2s analogue-stick... worked fine for me in FL, dunno if it works in LIVE or else...

i've made a 1week formation in CECN/Technocité to learn max/msp for the stage application and we manage to turn a sound in 5.1 system with a red ball rolling on the ground thanks to a video tracking in max/msp patch who send the midi data to a digital mixer (O1V yamaha). it's amazing what we can do with this software. you're only limited by your imagination... the pmidic look tricky; i'll try as soon as i can.
