Here you'll find a vst called stepCHILD. I haven't used it yet .... It look's pretty basic. But it might just do the trick :))

each midi track in cubase sx contains a sequenzer!!

when selected a miditrack in the main lane,you schould see to ya left more options to that midichannel(out-in etc-)

dont remember it exactly but i think the sequenzer is hidden under >inserts

ever heared of band in a box? you should try this,

if you type in midi notes, it automatically creates partitures (or how do you write that in english :) )

I checked it out once, but I really can't read music notes :) , so nothing for me... but for you this might do the trick.. anyway, let me know if you don't find the program

Try "Cakewalk Scorewriter" or even "Finale" ( way better and more extended then Scorewriter ). I use those for writing down the scores ( that's "partituren" in english b.t.w. ;) ) of my accoustical tracks. And with those programs, you can indeed just record the notes with your midi keyboard, and they'll write everything down for you. You can also quantize the input, so you get nice readable scores ( and you're gonna have to quantize, 'coz Finale is just waaay too accurate otherwise :) ).

B.t.w. Cubase SX and Logic ( hell, even all-time midi-hater ProTools does it ) write scores too, but it's not very practical. But it's an option, you can choose to view your notes as... notes rather than as bars on some kind of keyboard grid. I never use it anyway, like i said, it's not very practical...

It work's rather well, but i found the gui a litle confusing (not at first sight, but the names of some setting's are not realy logicall) I'm still searshing for a better solution becouse some funtction's i need are still missing

There is, according to me, a great need for sequencers in vst form. Not compleet prog's like cubase et.; These ap's are just to big if you only wan't to use the basic sequencer funktion in a modular setup.... (console for example)

Why not using sequencers like Ableton Live or Reason? I never used them, but if i'm right it's possible to "connect" them to SX with Rewire...

Yep, this is posible, BUT: you would have to run cubase+reason or live or.... This would be major overkill according to me. I own cubase and don't want to spend the money for reason or live if all i'm gonna use it for is basic sequencing.

I for example often work in Console (plugin-host and chainer) to play softsynth's or to route track's from my HDrecorder trough some vst FX. And a simple sequencer-only plug would really make my work mush easyer.

i 've got Finale now, and i must say it is really an impressive program to write scores. i had tried wrinting scores with xg-works, wich was bundled with my an200, but it was rather complicated. thnx for the tip! about the seq-plug-in: i have live4 now (first i had live3) and in live4 there is a midi-sequencer, wich live3 hadn't. so actually that problem is history ;) thx 2u all!

i don't really understand the vst-plugin part of your post... live 4 IS a vst host, AND a sequencer. hook your an200 to your computer with a midi inteface, create a new midi track, assign it to the midi input of your an200, draw the notes. no need for any additional software, no need for any plugin.

should work. why would you need a vst plugin to sequence it? check the manual's midi chapter. hit me back if it still isn't clear.

for getting the scores of what you made, you'll need another program. that's something live doesn't do as far as i know. (bought it only 5 days ago, so don't know all the tricks yet)
