I was wondering how much of you guys have tinitis (a constant high pitched buzzing in your ear)?

I have it in a 'mild' way and it's >12000hz high.  Doesn't bother me that much but afraid it will get worse.  Allthough I stopped producing at extemely loud headphone conditions,  it doesn't improve, au contraire.

Who else?

Yeah get that at night... but only when everything around is in silence, I can notice it lightly...But well after I focus and it's louder... I think once it's here, it can't be removed ... BTW gozno, listening to music all the time seems to me more like worsening the problem than solving it... No matter how low it is, you still got the waves in your ears...well i think

i heard it is actually your brain that compensates the loss of fequencies, by generating them itself. there was a solution to it: a tone-generator connected to you hearing-nerve that compensates the lost audible frequencies, so the brain doesn't need to compensate them

i sometimes have the feeling that my ear is more sensitive and painfull after listening to loud music or having produced a song. as i pay attention to it i can feel a bit of pain in my ear right now... but not a constant beep or ruis or something. It's called TINNITUS by the way, that's what wikipedia says.

Hello! I'm Doctor Skip! you normally have to wait till the high pitched tone in your ear is over before you get more high volume sounds or music in your ears, but if you got it all the time...you should use the good old ear-dopkens then.I would use them as much as nessecairy n'till the high tone stops. Thats just what I would do.

Those "earplugs" are no way of "healing", because the sound comes from inside (firefrog's explanation seems quite logical and trustable)... So as the sound doesn't come from outside, ear-dopkens are useless imo, or maybe it can act as a placebo. Best way to avoid it is still to prevent your ears from receiving high frequencies for a long time, especially for us as producers/music lovers...

That's not what Skip said. he didn't say it would heal your ears but to prevent from getting worse you should wear those plugs everytime you face loud music. In fact, you guys are telling the same thing and you're both right :))

But try to mix with earplugs: that's just plain stupid. Anyway, I should just avoid headphones (they are the worse). The volume using monitors doesn't come near that of headphone use or partyvolumes.

I'm gonna by me those fancy 150€ earplugs that just cut 20db at all hz someday for playing live (that's the worse, with loud speakers and even louder monitors sometimes). Luckily I'm not a dj (that's even worse).
