Noob question : VST to "create" bass (techno)
Help neededHi there,
first I have to admit I am very new in this... I installed cubase 3 during the week and slowly get interested... I play music since smthing like 9 years and wanted to change a little bit, so bought myself a keyboard.
I slowly discover the midi functionalities, instruments, effects, and so on... guess it will take some time before I get comfortable with that :-)
Anyway, my question : I want to create the first structure of a track, which to me - in electronic music (techno, minimal, house,...) looks to be the bass, but : - I thought I would find a vst to "create" a bass, a oscillo like generator with tuning functions to have any kind of sharp/fat bass, does such a tool exist ?
- I also thought I would find libraries of sound I could use, with thousands of pre-generated bass (and sound in general). Does this exist ? where can I find it ? can I link that kind of bank sound (so bass) to my keyboard ?

maybe cubase is not the good soft to start, but its an excellent software and if u take the time to learn it, you will be able to play with one of the very best soft... Have a look on google for "free vst bass" or sumthin like that, same goes for the sound librarie, there are many on the web... and here on ebel we have a "yellow page" with many samples sites I dont remember where is the sound bank in cubase but im sure you ll find if you take the time to search... Or check on the web for a cubase forum, voila. Please take the time to fill your profile ^^ thank you
first of all,check out the electrobel library->yellowpages->Websites and in there "Vst plugins".Links with free vst's available there. Normally you can link every VST,VSTi parameter with a midi-keyboard.(its a midi keyboard you have, right?) And most Vst's (softsynths) have lots of "presets"(pre generated sounds from the softsynth) in them. Few have bass-only presets,but most good vst's have bass presets. And I tell you,there are more than enough good and free vst's out there. Talking about "first structure of a track",to me it changes for every track. Sometimes I use a whole beat as first structure.Or a main melody...or sometimes its just a sound I recorded and I wanna build a whole track around it....But Im not into techno so....But I verry strongely suggest (to most people who ask for advice) to experiment as much as possible,to try new,original things,thats the best way to get your personal, recognisable "sound". Well ,thats what I think. I cant help you further with Cubase cuz I dont use it.But Im shure youll get plenty of help soon,in here...Good luck and have fun!
