when can we start to rip off classical music?

think it's 75years from the last copyright renewal.

you can rip most classical music, but not most of the recordings :) (because a recording is copyrighted to the band who played the music.) 

so yeah, you can use some beethoven in your music, but you can't rip the Anna vinnitskaya recording of it :) (she won Queen elizabeth piano this year :) ) 

so i can still find some MIDI classical music files and nobody can say anything?

or i can just learn how to play the notes and play them with some weird vst's and it's ok?

yep loads of people do that .. mostly without even giving credit to.. whatever they ripped.. ild say its maybe a good way to learn how to make ur own "classical" stuff or do a kind of rmx.. but like once... or just for practice

just dont ripoff.. its cheap and unrespectful. improvise and learn from them...

If you play it yourself you can use almost any classical piece, if the composer has been dead for over 75 years. You can't use a recording of the london philarmonic though, because they own a copyright to their recording.

yeah you can use some classical stuff but if you ust use the midi it'll sound very flat coz there's no velocity and it'll sound like the original but wicked. so listen to elkhor's version of requiem of a dream to see how remake it properly and add your touch, but it's a dangerous game :)

I agree! Where's the challenge in just ripping? Do something with it! Like Elkhor has!

nobody says you have to leave the velocity untouched. i think with the right velocity and a well made synth you can make a beauty out of those songs
