I've seen it a while ago at a concert of 'The Violent Husbands': normal acoustic guitar turned into electric by use of small mic (i think) and something more i guess... i couldn't really see it as it was taped together with black tape! How could i do this myself? i want to be able to plug my acoustic guitar in my soundcard or amp like an electric one

Go to your local music instrument-shop and ask them. There's more then one way to amplify an acoustic guitar.

There are small mic that you tape on the inside of the guitar, but they sometimes come lose...

There is some sort of element that you put in front of the hole of your guitar and it pics up mainly the vibrations of the strings in stead of the sound in the guitarbody. It had a nice sound though and it stays in place! It's not all that expensive.

There's probably other solutions too.

i guess what i saw was the second method you discribed, with the element outside close to the hole. So what do i need to buy without having to go to that local shop right now :))

I went with a friend to the shops to buy one of these like 10 years ago or something!! I'll ask him if he can tell me something more about it (brand, price, experiance)

I'll post it when i get his reply.

you got to use a piezo-electric contact mic, in guitarshop you can easly find it, sometimes not so cheap! it depend of the sound quality you need, for me the best system is a mic who look like a elelctricguitar mic, metalic, this one is not a piezoelectric (single coil wired) its the more practical, you can remove it when you whant....

I personaly make some experiment whit headphone...amazing sound!

dont esitate to ask me again if you need more info 8)

when i was 9 years old, we had a teacher at school (meester Claude ^^ ) that played acoustic guitar on the communions etc.. he had an elemnt that he could attach in the whole of the guitar, which had 6 seperate pick-up elements - one for each snare. it sounded really good, no contact-noise, really clear. i found it really cool, but i never dared to ask (i was a little boy back then, i was very timid :)) probably he would take a knife and cut my troat from the first moment that i would dare to ask :p ). something like this Image
