from all the ones that can be found on the net... what free equalising software should I install on my laptop?
are there a lot of presets or do you still have to trust your ears? how many channels/tracks can you handle/equalise?
wheer can I find the specific frequency range from the diffferent instruments ranging from BD, snare, hihats, crash till human voice, slapbass etc....
i do my eq'ing in Live, with the provided EQ8 plugin. why do you want a separate prog to do it? seems odd, especially if you want to equalize separate channels.
I use the ones from FL (the new parametric EQ2 is very very nice, because it has a build in spectrum analyser!)
Most EQ's use the same filtercode, especially the free ones, so it just comes down to which interface you like best. I found a good one made with synthmaker, but it uses a bit of cpu (considering it's just an eq)
And I'd try googling for a list of spectral ranges, can't be hard to find. CM mag includes one with each issue as well.
here s an EQ guide chart with different instruments: http://download.yousendit.com/721E94D37C269290
anyway, charts and presets can be starting points but always use your ears to judge hé

Totally agreed! To me it's the most useful Eq I ever used. NyquistEq (Smart Electronix) and Classic Eq (Kjaerhus Audio) are good free Eq plugins but I recommand you (bundle) plugins like Ozone, T-racks & Maximus. Some are a bit expensive but it's very useful and powerful.
-edit- why is this thread locked?? well, here's another interresting chart about frequencies. http://www.ziggysono.com/htm_effets/index.php?art=table_frequence&titre=Frequences
thx for the response.... the frq.chart was really interesting and I'll have a look at the suggested EQ
