New Menu section >>>Electrobel Agency

The idea is good and would be very useful for those of us handpicking acts for events. We also wouldn't have to make a forum thread every time.

But the name electrobel agency....Blergh :)

I have always been in favour of a system like this. It keeps the hundreds of "me!me!me!" replies away from partyrequest threads.

good idea but :

for the dj section it is important to clarify the difference between regular dj's ( who play other peoples music ) and artists who do dj sets with their own music, such as myself...

there is a difference between those 2 options, wich is important imo...

i think that there are others like me here on ebel who do that, like scootchy, and i feel that me and others who do this will get more on the background, because it is not considered live, and it is not a regular dj show...

imo there is not much difference in work and activity on stage between someone who does a dj set with his own stuff and someone who presses play in ableton

so you have live shows ( elfenkommando,...) / ableton shows ( 90% of ebel lives ) and dj shows vs dj shows with your home made music...

there we have to get a distinction...

lol ;D I dont think the name is important... agency or not... but the name should clarify what the section is for...  ;) We already have the "Booking" section, which might lead to confusion!

maybe we could add an 'experience' feature, so people know if your confirmed DJ or beginner...

Well to be honest if someone dj's his own work using the newest material he can do something that sounds more like a live show than someone on a laptop could do.

I don't see why it would lag behind. As long as you don't just play your own stuff on 2 basic cd-players and roll a cigarette between songs (which I've seen happen), but actively mix etc., you're set, no?

I completely agree with you, that's why i post it here, but I have noticed that there is an atmosphere around that kinda looks down on dj sets and says waaaaaaa< to press play in ableton sets...

many people seem to think that dj's who mix their home made stuff, are lazy bums who, like you say, spend 25 minutes of their set rollin cigarettes...

i therefor think it is good to have a clear distinction in a booking manager between the different options, because when people read dj-set they don't think the dj will bring his own, home made music, and thats a shame ( i'm talking in general here, nobody complained to me yet...)

Very interesting idea Liquidbass, it will be very handy if I search some artists to play at the jeugdhuis I'm working in. Maybe it's also possible to create a 'sort by place' button, so you can ask artists from round your place.

actually i'm preparing (for ebel v2.1) a special form you have to fill in to be added to the "can play live" list. and for bookings, there's a big filter search engine, and uses google map to limit regions. using this map :http://www.electrobel.be/user_map.php
