Get your snack and move on :D
make a song using only 3 samples:
- a 15" frequency sweep
- the first 35" of Get your snack on from Amon Tobin (album: supermodified)
- the first 35" of Get a move on from Mr Scruff (album: keep it unreal) !!! a vocal (own or speechsynth can be added) !!!!
rules:
1: you can do anything with these samples (but make them as unrecognisable as possible)
2: you cannot ad anything that is not originated from these samples. One exception: you can ad your voice or a speechsynth!
3: contest entries will be evaluated and voted for by all interested ebel-users.
4: all entries are anonymous untill the end of the evaluation period (i guess that's a piece of cake for Zark to arrange)
5: the three samples will be online starting september 1st - closing time of the contest is october 15th, the entries will then be available for evaluation and october 31st the best song wins. (we play for the fun, but i guess Zark can give away the Grand Prize: 1 ebel t-shirt)
6: all rules I forgot but you all are so kind to remind me about.
7: you can post more than one song
34 users already said they want to participate (through the forum and by private message) Zark is willing to make it all happen on the site but he's quite busy right now. Thanks to Rude for starting the whole contest thing. All questions or remarks regarding this contest on this forum thread or by private message to me please. All songs will remain in the contest box (as all christmas-entries of the previous contest) I guess it's no problem to post your song again in the general section when you added some more samples after the contest. I guess all users know the way to download the Amon Tobin and MrScruff samples so you could start right away if you like to. They'll be online at the official start of the contest september 1st. for those who do not like to download on their own. Read the remark from Stekie to get legal downloads of the two songs.

read the rulez, cestqui... rule n°5: all samples will be online sept. 1st. but if you want to start already you can - as mentioned by strekie, get a legal download (1Eur35/track) on aforementioned site. and as for being behind... it's six weeks till closure of entries so i guess that's about enuff time, right? (especially for soundsfreaks like u are)
Well, being limited to only your voice and 3 samples.. Sounds interesting, if time lets me, i will certainly try sth! A good way to test and learn new software ;)

Are those samples from songs? So, erm.. what about the drums???

I use my headphone as a mic :) Never had the courage to really sing though :(
no percussion? make some then. With a good wave-editor tou can cut tiny pieces of the sample and use them as hihats, snares, crashes or bassdrums. You cn make a good kick from the frequency sweep and if you want it a little harsh, put some distortion on it. Many things to do with the mterial given. Be creative.
It's fun to see how people are already looking for the samples and showing their enthusiasm for the contest. Once i got my laptop ack (hope friday) i'll upload all samples to my file manager and put a link in this forum thread.
To be honest, i've yet been trying some things out too and got about 32 workable samples out of the two songsamples. I guess i will make some ten more out of the frequency sweep.
