midi sync

dtr yeah you can just midi-sync m using two midi interfaces. if your on mac you can do it over lan. probably fw too. there s probably pc tools for doing that too.

There will be a Mac and a Windows Laptop...

Finally you think... using the midi-controllers as midi-device doesnt work?

And what I need, is two times this then? (one for each laptop)

but then... I see two male midi plugs... but I think one cannot plug midi male on midi female... :S

but then... I see two male midi plugs... but I think one cannot plug midi male on midi female... :S yeah it s kind of odd that it has cables attached to it. this one from m-audio just has female plugs, so you d connect two with a male-male cable:

for now, i create a reaktor ensemble for make live with an ESX-1. thas is very difficult because de sync is never totaly perfect, so u must use good interface with low latency. that known as Abelton Live is the only software which hav a real system of sync adapted for two machines

Dtr, is this the only way to midi-sync? like i said on the wall, mac's can midi sync over lan but i m not sure how you would sync a mac and a pc. you could look into OSC (=OpenSoundControl). that s a UDP network protocol that does midi sync but your apps would have to support it with some kind of plugin or something.

and i happened to run into this: http://www.liveapi.org/. that s a python API to program your own extensions to live, and it supports OSC. but i suspect you re not much of a programmer :D

and what about this way: 2 laptops:Laptop1 with a usb-midi-controller Novation Remote Zero SL with Midiport 1 : thru/in/out and Midiport 2 : out Laptop2 with usb-midi-keyboard M-Audio Keystation 49E with Midiport : out Laptop1 > Usb > MidiController > Midi Cable < Midi-Keyboard < Usb < Laptop2

Is this all bullshit or does it work for midisync??? coz if it worked... it would be a very cheap solution...

Kewl... that means I can connect the laptops for only 2 Euros instead of 70!

Gonna buy my midicable soon!

2 mac, one with a uc 33 and an other with m-audio oxygen 8. It works great with ableton (some times it's difficulte to find the good midi configuration but it works)

Cubase has special software to link different computers... of course, using a midi-cable is allright...
