General discussion"Because the sound gets more established, 1000 blow-flies show up which want to get into the act at this "new, great and nonfamous" music. And those, who waited for it, see their years of hard work finally paid and a career as superstars dawning. I have to disappoint you but in case you didn´t realise yet: you can´t get rich with stolen music only. And most of you nerds are to unappetizing and/or old to become celebrities for teenagers. In a different context this didn´t work neither for DJ Paul nor Marc Acardipane. But it might be desirable for some to do small time as an ex-comedystar in the beer tents of this planet.
But this simple banality is ignored when "glory, bitches and money" twinkle as a gemmy facade at the horizon. For that, one denies the rest of one's non-existing personality and kisses the ass of everybody who might be useful for the way up. Don´t say anything wrong or have an own opinion – one could miss a potential chance and mess up the own future! One behaves in anticipatory obedience exactly like postfordist capitalism expects the individual to behave: become the agent of your own manpower, sell yourself at the best possible rate. Social contacts are essential for this, they form the net where career opportunities develop. The individuals apprehended this already and so work is done studiously, 24/7 and everywhere. Every new contact is a job opportunity, every party a pay increase, every new release a promotion. The self-production as dazzling artist-personality is the strategy to advertise producer and commodity which are one person. This is as dumb as conformist. The wrong being decomposes the consciousness.
Not later than 2 years from now on nobody wants to listen to your crap any more, your cheap funfair music. But you will surely find another sound which can be sold to the kids as "cool and in"; selling your extraneous shit as "the next big thing". Oh, Grime is now in? Starting up a new project because one fantasizes oneself as "professional producer" who can satisfy all needs of the customers with his long hot rod. Penis delusion and merciless overestimation of one's own capabilities – probably one need the character of a high-grade cocaine addicted elephant man to be like that.
So I still have hope that all the idiots change the field sometime because there is nothing to gain anymore, they lost interest or a new gold rush started somewhere else. Do me a favor and kick the bucket. I piss on your grave. "

Seems this guy is really pissed. Listened to the first two numbers of his album and I'm really impressed. Dark and moody stuff. Nice though!
i've downloaded one his album last year... after someone on electrobel recomended it.
i especially like his more dubby downtempo stuff...

I was hoping for a more fundamental discussion on what he has to say rather than "who's that guy and he's music is kinda cool" :D
Especially on electrobel this should be a consideration to keep in mind (what he says) where lots of talent is united and where it isn't unthinkable that some people will get lots of releases in the future.

you want a serious discusion, but you quote only half the article and link to his MP3 download page, rather then to the original article (which is quite old bye the way).
the original article is about people that jump the breakcore bandwagon, because it is (dare i say was ;) ) 'in' at a certain point...
personally i think there is a lot of bitterness and frustration in that article. i don't worry so much on genres as such and make the music i feel like.
i must say that i don't really know much breakcore, but i can follow him that there is a lot of crap breakcore tunes being produced (just like there is a lot of crap techno, hip hop etc.)
i'm certainly not trying to be 'celebrity for teenagers' :D

Well my opinion is not his, that's for sure. But he has a point. I just quoted the piece I found most interesting. He's a radical communist (are there any other?) so from that point of view you can understand why he hates the capitalist way of thinking that now even finds his way in underground culture. And there he has a point. I find it a bit hypocrit too that producers from alternative subcultures sometimes turn their backs on what they used to stand for just because there is a record deal in sight. It's offcourse the old tale of commercialization of a underground culture. But it's more than that. It's also about the sucking up and doing everything to get that sweet record deal (nothing wrong with wanting a record deal, it's the way you do it and the principals you stand for). That I've seen quite a lot lately. All of a sudden producers get their music offline and start sucking up to people just to get that record deal. 'vriendjespoltiek' in Dutch or politics (I think) in English. Nothing wrong with that too to a certain degree. The whole world is built on politics, but some cross a dirty border. That I don't like. But the way he puts it is a bit hautain I guess and exaggerated.
