... ok, it might be my interpretation of things over here, after having faced what officialy has been declared my worst week ever, ... buteuhmz ... wtf is ==>> http://www.electrobel.be/newsletter_read.php?id=5/ <<== that? Image Don't get me wrong here, off course, nothing against the ppl playing at the party, or against the ppl organising the party ... where i have a MAAAAJOR problem with, is the fact that some events over here are massively promoted-pushed-drawn attention to, by electrobel, where other event are silenced to death, notwithstanding the fact that just as many, or sometimes even more e-bel artists are playing

why?

i've seen this recently at 3 major events:

  1. Gentse Feesten _ where if -i recollect correctly- posters where hung AFTER when the party had place?
  2. BIFFF, where the partie had to be discussed as a post in the forum
  3. Ventilot festival, where (if it weren't for scootch & jemenfish who were busting their asses off to get everything +/- OK for everyone) the party wasn't even announced in the "upcoming events" ... who the fuck is that events-admin anyway? who is the prick who decides what comes in and what not?? could some-one pls give him a kick in the nutz for me? pls-pls-pretty-pls?? Image

you might not have seen me too much over here, lately ... and that was because of the fact that i seemed to be the only one who had a problem with that. Every one else never even reacted on things like this. No-one even seemed to notice. But when i logged on today, and jeeeej- i had e-mail- and i saw that shit popping up (moreover, out of a newsletter!!!) well, then i have only one thing to say for the guy(s) responsible for the selective cross-promotion over here ... FUCK OFF _ i know already a lot of ppl who have turned their backs towards e-bel, continuing like this WILL mean the end of something that COULD HAVE become one of the most influencial promotors of electronic music in europe.

THINK gaddammit, instead of sitting on y're lazy muthafuckin'ass, knowing some-one else will do the shitty work that might work once that might even work twice but it sure as hell won't last forever if i where of them ppl taking the decisions, i would hire myself some pro's to cover this kind of stuff ... and PAY THEM, instead of not replying to e-mails, phonecalls, etc etc ...

how would you feel if you where ventilot for instance, and you included the e-bel logo in every muthafucking post, in every muthafucking poster, on every gaddamn MUTHAFUCKING FLYER and PAYED ppl to go over at parties/events/... to distribute those fly's and PAYED ppl to send stuff via the post and PAYED for every gaddamn thing, ... and you have to come to the conclusion that some lazy ass fuck didn't even bothered to show up at your event, and sell some promo-stuff as it was promised to ya ... how would you feel when you're getting a major triple-penetration-assfuck, huh?

I can understand Elfen here.

But it feels kind of strange to take a shot at them when they're actually doing it right.

So if all upcoming events are promoted this way it's going to be very nice! There have been quite some mistakes in the past, but the promotion for this event is nice. Let's try to do future parties in a similar way!

Cheers

Maybe, but he's right about what he says, and you can hardly count me as a couch-sitter, I have been stating the same thing, and getting the newsletter in both pm and e-mail, seeing a separate post about it by the admin, AND it showing up on the events section while like the ventilot festival where ELFEN played and I busted my butt off for basically getting totally ignored by the head honcho here has completely the same effect on me and pissed me off to no small degree. I mean, ventilot is part of fetes de la musique and had a massive promotion, I never heard of this Garcia thing, it was never discussed, probably someone from that event knows Zark IRL and blammo, instant mass promotion.

I'm terminating all future planned events I had with electrobel, although I do keep my word to the artists themselves promised to play, and I will be gone from electrobel (deleted) in the coming days/weeks. I tried to adress this multiple times 'behind the scenes' and Zark's pertinent silence about the problem and the way he came off today has pushed me over the border of what I've been thinking about for a long time. I love working with most of the artists, but communication with electrobel 'higher ups' is strangely like caring for an autistic little child.

The blah blah from Zark about not receiving news from certain events has really reached it's Zenith. Me, Scootchy, ELFEN and the festival ALL tried to reach him, apparrently; He's just very selective when he's busy. Apparrently this accro event managed to pass under the busy-o-meter.

@Kyran: This kind of behavior has been going on for years. It's not going to go better.

i also have the newsletter for 29-06-2007 ! in my mailbox ! not that am planned to go to the events !

but what me make frustrated is that the mail is send on the same day that the events are happening ?

at 12,41 exact !

what is the logical use then of this newsletter ?

i have fully agreement with elfenkommando and jemenfish statement because they make a lot of work and advertisement about the events ! and even more every day are these guys online to manage the events to go to the right ways ! and these are not the 2 only people here but they are one of the hardworkers on the electrobel event scenes ( most of the users of electrobel dont see this hard working fellows ) i follow up the MOD forum also ! but in background !

with full respect to you 2 !!

For the first time I received event list in news letter and I thought that was a new feature. It is very good. I think it will be possible for the all events of ebel members. Why Elfencomando became nervous about this I couldn't understand.

101...I think you fail to see it from our point of view and a lot of normal users will also miss all the background info.

The newsletter function has been active sicne quite some time. Any event could have been inserted in there.

The events page has been a page that I have been one of the most vehemently trying to get it there, so we could advertise our parties.

The main point, for me at least and I am presuming ELFEN to some degree since he became entwined: Zark & co. always have said:

'I don't like doing events. I just want to be the webmaster'

Which is fine, so we took care of events. However, if I program, organise, book an event, then what I want, is some communication, and when I get the flyer, the flyer + line-up goes up on the events page.

That doesn't happen. Look at Ventilot festival; Look at the mekitburn festival, do you see any mention now that I deleted my own thread? No. Actually once I do away with the thread about the mekitburn festival, it's like it never existed, because they can't be arsed to promote it.

Electrobel doesn't mention the event anywhere. Neither did it do with ventilot until Scootchy put it on the forum; But festivals don't access the forum. Log out of the site and access it like a visitor, and today you will immediately get linked to the Accro event. That's what they wanted to see for their events. Even a link, a mention, something. The only link there was between those was ME pushing electrobel, them putting the logo on their promotion, and that's it.

I have had remarks from Ventilot and BIFFF that they made promotion and use the electrobel logo while when they surfed to this website, they couldn't find anything about it. Zark was always 'too busy', exams, etc., and anyway, he wanted to just program new features.

Now there is this event in Brussels and there's a newsletter in our pm box, a special mailing (with accompanying colours), a flyer, a news item, a special link on the news item, and ALL artists at this event have been booked in the agenda through 'electrobel'.

Now let me put it this way: I put Elfenkommando on Ventilot festival, or even you at Mekitburn festival. Ventilot festival even explicitly stated on thousands of flyers and posters: 'Electrobel stage + electrobel stand'. Those events have been on the website since MONTHS. If we would want to have even a minor news item, we would have to call, pm, mail, and remind Zark. And hope, pray, grovel and lick his behind he has some of his precious time.

Well, sod that. Look at the events at Kultuurkaffee, it's the only thread I still kept on the forum. Online since early May, international, important names, a large club...do you see a mention anywhere? A flyer on the events page (the postcards have been available since weeks)? Even only the line-up? A news item 'New events!'? No. When my webmaster adapts my own page, that item is going to go from the forum, and then once again, nothing is mentioned in here, and no-one will be the wiser. The only reason those events got linked to electrobel is because I PUSHED electrobel with all those clubs and partners, and it isn't even used, mentioned, respected or appreciated, which makes me realise it's doing more harm also for the name of my organisation, because they blame ME for getting no promo (or people not showing up).

If you want to be a webmaster, and want some other people to run your events, fine, that's what we were doing. But if one event suddenly makes the webmaster go out of his way to code and implement so many things just for the sake of knowing that person, and when we ask be told there's no time for it, AND on top of that when we make a remark about this in the forum for moderators basically either never get an answer or, today, a very disrespectful one for the work we put into this database, that's where I draw the line. Enough is enough. I don't want the same joke to begin once Mekitburn would start printing their posters (A1 size, no less) then start complaining about no electrobel promo. I can already see it happening from a mile away, should I let it.

'S been fun, but I'm not an idiot. Besides I got my own organisation to run. At least there I receive financial money from the government AND people who appreciate the work you put into them.

well, i think there should be more than one admin. each with different tasks. while the mods only take care the ebel-laws, there is still only one zark taking care of everything coping with ebel-promotion, ebel-modification and site-updates. these things should be devided too, since zark ALSO has a life. indeed, myabe he should be more consequent, but i think it's easy to blame it all on zark, because "he's responsible". responsabilities should never come down to only one person. it began by having the moderators, but it should be expanded more, because ebel is growing enormously.

some thing that should be done imho:

  • making a ebel-promotion-admin (doing all the newsletters and ebelpromo-stands etc ) -having a second ebel-site-tweaker to solve bugs quicker (for example: the window to post things is still full of bugs (no offense zark)

and that for each country

Its such a shame nobody incl me took this chance of the hard work of Jemenfish... If I read all this it looks like without Jmf ebel is sure not now going to be expanded.. Ebel, like ELFEN sais can grow really big if it wants or can... well now we could a little.. and it gets fucked up (for now)... shame. :(

The idea from firefrog seems a very good future plan in my opinion... But these are prety serious jobs unlike moderation.. The right persons have to be found then. only that way or such a way can ebel grow big imo..VERY BIG

And my point is just that we'r little bit farder away instead of closer... by this big loss.
