it is used for what exactly? I will install Windows xp on my mac INTEL, and I would like that Windows is in a good state :)
Windows usually use a lot of services you may not need in a musical environment. Like spooler, network, security, visual effects, system restore, etc... Disabling all these services result in a really fast responding windows. The first link is an explanation of all the services and some configurations, the default one, the safe one, the power user one, etc... But start with the second link ;) If you want to know the difference between the default and safe configuration, the default windows, wich I use to go on internet takes 2 minutes to start, the safe configuration, wich I use to make music takes 20 seconds (on the same PC).
or u can just try the windows lsd which is actually a windows xp with SP2 allready tweaked and with some cute visuals... the tweaks are phun but sometimes u have to reinstall windows coz the tweaks fucked up yer windows :p
There are enough problems with a windows, and you'll use an unofficial tweaked one ? LOL I prefer to know what the tweaks are (sometimes, some programs need some services or part of the registry that have been disabled) so I can reactivate disabled services or put the default values in the registry.
Hello, I have just installed bootcamp and i have a big problem of sound with my m-audio firewire 410 in windaube XP. In fact I have sound but it very "is rotted" digitalized. What to make? I do not know very well Windows, I installed asio4all but that do not be better: (

well really i can tell you that windows lsd i'm really happy with it and there are no broplesm at all...at least less than with win XP...i'm using lsd for di musoc and XP for di inetereneterer and stuff :)
no problems @ all with my XP :-) sometimes, problems with the soundcard, because of the overclocking, but only when I use Asio 2 64 bit ...
