ok, here is my problem, it's more network related then music related, but anywayz....
i have 2 (windows)pc's, each connected individualy to the internet using a switch. in each of these 2 pc's i installed a second ethernet card, and connected them with a crosscable. this network i cannot get to work without installing the netbeui protocol on the second ethernet cards (unless someone can explain me how) , problem is fx teleport does not support netbeui, so it won't work:(
i want to keep my 2 pc's individualy connected to the internet (1 pc runs msn, emule, ftp server, ... all the time, while the other is mainly for gaming and producing)
so...is there a way to connect my pc's directly using the tcpi/ip protocol and a crosscable, while keepingthem individualy connected to a hub/switch?
yep :)
just make sure your 2nd ethernet has tcp/ip installed,
set ip manually on that tcp/ip connection, and preferably use a different network than the one from your first card.
for example,
first ethernet card is probably on dhcp with 192.168.1.X
set the second network card to 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.2.2 on the other pc.
and get rid of that old netbui :)
can't get it to work that way, maybeye i do something wrong?
i set up my network this way: in network connections i set up a small home or office network
i selected this option : this computer connects to the internet directly or trough a network hub. other computers on my network also connect to the internet directly or trough a hub.
once i finished the wizard on both pc's i couldn't see my other pc's on the nw anymore :(
damn, i cannot get this thing to work, i tried it with the manual ip's, no succes:(
is there something is should do except for manualy setting the ip's?
on pc 1:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 3:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
on pc 2:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 4:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.2
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
ok, i figured out the 192.168 ... adresses might have conflicts with my hub, anyone who knows how to work around this?
it took me several hours of reading, sweating,... but now my network is online, the only problem that remains is the terribel lag teleport has when loading and playing :(
tommorow i'm gonna try it with more vst's (tested it with albino 3, but it's too laggy atm)
anywayz, thx for the help zark, i'm a lot more experienced in networking now :)
