ableton question
Help neededHello I'm a novice in Ableton & got a question for the pro'sIf I got a 2 bar loop , how can I add 2 bars of silence in this loop ... making it a 4 bar loop with an 'offset'OK I can go out & do it in a loop editer ... no way to do this inside Ableton ?thnks in advance

- drag your loop into arrangement view
- extend it two bars (drag the back)
- consolidate (ctrl +j)
- draw a clip envelope for the volume... (ie last two bars 0 )
- consolidate (ctrl +j)
i supose it would be cmd + j, but you can just go to edit > consolidate
a faster way but probably not as comprehensive:
- unlink the volume clip envelope and let it loop 4 bars
- draw the volume for the last two bars to zero
(this obviously will not work in all cases, for example adding a two bar silence to a 8 bar loop)

thnks kornie .. it works still not very used to this 'session' versus ' arrangement' concept it's a pity that there's no cross-platform/sw export format that allows you to go from Ableton to Logic to Cubase etc... a bit like PDF in Graphic industry ... I guess the graphic industry was a bit more assertive to the SW vendors ; Thnks a million also you Dialekte
ehh, if i understand your question well.. , if u go to the clip view (where u draw the notes) u should have a a little box next to ur pianoroll called 'clip' and besides that there should be a box 'notes' .. in the lower right corner u can see a field called 'length' , just type in 4 in the first box and ur set if thats what u mean tho ;p

in the audiovisual world there excists some crossplatform formats, OMF for example. it is supported in most bigger professional audio-workstations like cubase, protools, pyramix... but i guess the "consumer" workstations (reason, ableton,...) are still not ready for that
sure for midiclips ;) but for audio clips it doesn't work that way...
