hi, i got a really nice tax refund this year, and i'm planning to spend a rather large part of it at this piece of machinery. i've read a shitload of internet reviews and merch sites about this, but i want to know if any of u had layed your hands on this, and what the BAD features are.
i allready know how many fx it has, how many samples you can play, .... don't care about that. what i do wanna know is what they don't say when they try to sell shit. the bad sides, the con's, all the reasons why i might want to reconsider.
so please if you have any info, share it with me before i spend 350€ at a piece of junk ^^
thanks
You can buy it. It's a very good effects box inexpensive, but you will not be able to use the sampler correctly, it is hardly synchronisable with the clock midi. The object is really oriented for effects, not for sampling. Interface is not multi-touch, but there are great possibilities if they use it as pad midi via the usb. I use it send in my table of sound mixing there, just like that I choose live there the lanes which pass by kp3. It's a good machine, i think if you need a boite à effet, buy a kp3 ^^ (and then small light is pretty ^^)
thanks for the answers, seems like everyone who has one likes it ^^ still i have a few more questions; here are some:
And how is the sampler as a stand alone machine? i wasn't really planning on using it as a midi sampler, since a pc is the ultimate sampler imo ^^
oh btw, is it fragile or solid? i mean, will i be taking this with me on the road or wil it stay at my desk at all times becaus it breaks easy?
no multitouch, so it's like a nintendo ds screen? if you touch 2 points it senses it as if the point right in between is beaing touched?
maybe i'll go check this out in the store next week, if i'm spending 350, i wanna know what i'm buying :p

Sampler as stand alone is a good accompaniment, but it is not powerful so he can't be a "master piece" of your live. The box is solid, you can transport it easily if you proctect them good. For the pad I recommend you to try it and you will be able to form your opinion. But he is good for the utilisation (effects with two parameters). Good luck !
i worked a couple of times with the kaoss pad 2, very nice concept. great effects, no°3 looks even more promising. one thing: the KP2 quickly generates some backgroundnoise, you can conceal that easily however with a decent mixer.
if your looking for a spacy fx processor, this is the shit. if you're looking for some more classic fx, check out other stuff.
It´s THE thing to have wether as DJ or Live act!!! The good: Robust versatile the perfect eyecatcher the Bad: the sampling part is not that superb
It's a nice little tidbit to have. I've seen it plugged into an MC couple of weeks back and the guy going mental on it, so you can use it in a couple of ways ^^
wicked, guess i'll have to buy it ^^
too bad the sampling isn't that good, but i can live with that :)
i saw Ucture yesterday, playing with this toy ( i think), und mjam, it certainly looked tasteeeey...still...to expensive imo, i am gonna wait a couple of months at least
I bought one second hand 250 euro and I am glad I didn't spend more. It's a very cool toy. It is nice to get some Ideas from it or use it as midicontroller but when I am producing it does not have the value of 400 euro VSTI effects. Once I start performing live I think I will have much more use for it.
