actually, i have the opposite question: can it harr to connect 2 computers to the same firewire-soundcard (not to use simultaneously on both computers)? my motu has 2 firewire-ports and, lazy as i am, i want to connect my pc and mac simultaneously to it so i don't have to switch cables each time i switch platforms. i know that i can connect a firewire-hdd to my soundcard which is connected to my computer (= daisy chaining), and i can also connect 2 computers with a firewirecable without them exploding. so connecting 2 computers thru the soundcard should not be a problem. but then i again it's quite weird to connect a soundcard to 2 computers :p i am asking because i know how delicate it is to mess with firewire. 

@readydot: you can on mac. use OS X's audio settings to make an 'aggregate device' of the 2 cards. btw, i think you can also select different cards for input and output without this.

Mac...!? Is that the thing with tha apple on it?! Just kiddin', I'm a PC user so Win porbably doesn't have that...

You can do this with asio4all.

Install it, select it as your asio device, open the device panel, and you'll get a list of all availlable soundcards on your computer. You can enable or disable these. In advanced mode you can even enable/disable individual inputs.

I find it easier to find than aggregate device on the mac, but it's essentially the same.

how do you do this? i don't see such option in mac's soundsettings-menu

Asio4all is having horrible latencz when I try to make both cards play together...

is that functon still in leopard? 'cause i've been searching the "open aggregate device editor" for half an hour now. i've looked on the apple website (where it is nicely explained and the "aduio-midi devices" look exactly the same) exept that they don't show exactly where that function is placed in the menu. i'm starting to think it's me :p
