nasty problem with cubase... you can change the location where cubase searches vst's, dll and stuff like that... i accidently changed it to 'program files', so when cubase starts running and scans for plugins, he scans my entire program files. result = he crashes on dll that have nothing to do with producing music. first it was some stupid dll in Ableton, i unistalled ableton, then he crashes on another, and another... so i can't actually open cubase anymore, and i can't change the location where he has to search this whole thing was no problem IF... when i uninstall cubase and and try to reinstall it, everything is ok, EXCEPT the fact he starts scanning again all the dll's in 'program files'. something stays saved on my laptop, even when i uninstall it manually. anybody who knows what exactly it is and how to delete it or reset it somehow. i really don't want to [kan ni opt engels woord komen, sry... formateren dus] just to get cubase working again. somebody can help? thx!

i'm not sure if it works but: if u go to your cubase directory, like: C:Program FilesSteinbergCubase SX 3

there should be a file in it called: INSTALL.LOG

if u open it u can see al the directories, also the directory where u have put your vst's maybe if u change your directory in there

Mmmh, It's more of a registry setting.

And i think it's a global setting to all steinberg applications. go have a look in the registry in : HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSteinberg

If you've uninstalled all steinberg products, simply delete it :D Or you could delete the Cubase folder. Otherwise just have a look around for something like vstfolder key :)

please be cautious with the registry, error in manipulation can seriously f*** your windows or any other installed application. (sorry, microsoft keeps  saying it, so i shall too ^^) to start the registry editor ... start; run, "regedit"

woa, u went through all that trouble just cuz u picked the wrong folder to look for vsts in ? thats harsh:p cant help you tho, in ableton theres a file called preferences.cfg and if u delete that it resets ur settings and those kind of problems are gone i tho, if theres no file similar to that for cubase.. what zark says makes sense
